Three Card Poker Strategy

Three Card Poker is a simplified version of traditional poker. In this casino floor variation, players need not rely on the tells of other players in order to devise a successful strategy. However, there are still several ways to ensure that a positive and profitable outcome is made while playing the game.

There are two major types of Three Card Poker, one of which does not require any strategy. Pair Plus is similar to video poker, where the player compares their three-card hand to the pay table in order to determine how much they win. No skill or previous knowledge is required; it is all based on luck.

Ante and Play is a version of Three Card Poker in which the player actually has the opportunity to increase their chances of winning. The first thing players should remember is that you must raise all winning hands. If you are dealt a pair, trips, a straight or a flush, you should always play. Even if your hand is a low pair, it is still likely that the dealer’s hand does not qualify and you can win the hand.

If your initial hand is not a winning one, you are still advised to play if you have a hand higher than Queen/6/4. Over the years, this has proven to be an effective strategy of winning. Again, the dealer’s hand does not qualify all of the time, and there are several hands where their high-card hand is still lower than yours.

Some players choose to raise Queen/6/4. However, this has not been proven to be an ineffective strategy. Over time, the player will lose money. Stick to raising only with winning hands.
