Blackjack

Introduction
Blackjack is a popular casino that attracts all types of players. It has the high-roller appeal of a casino card game but is also easy to play and understand so that even casual gamblers can enjoy a quick hand of Blackjack when they are playing at land-based and online casinos.

Rules and How to Play
The rules of Blackjack are quite simple. It is just you against the dealer – and the player to get the closest to 21 without exceeding the number wins. You are both dealt two cards – both of the player’s cards are face-up while one of the dealer’s cards is face down. After a wagering round, the player can choose to receive another card to increase their total.

The dealer then turns their hand over: if they have 16, they have to take another card; if they have 17, they have to stand. If the dealer takes another card and his hand is less than the player’s or equals a number greater than 21, the player wins. The player loses if their hand equals more than 21 or their hand is less than the dealer’s.

Strategy
Much like the rules of Blackjack, winning strategies are also quite simple. Because the game can only play out in a certain number of ways, there are pre-determined strategies that can help you make an impressive profit. Each strategy depends on the total of the hand you are dealt and determines how to act based on that information.

Firstly, a hard hand is one that does not contain an Ace. Should you have a hard hand, this is how you should proceed: always hit if you have 8 or less and always stand if you have 17 – 20. If you have nine, ten, eleven or 12, and the dealer’s up card is a 2 – 10, double. If his card is anything else, stand. If you have 13- 16 and the dealer’s hand is between 2 and 6, stand. If he has anything else, hit.

The second set of strategies refers to soft hands – those which contain an Ace. If you have A2 or A3, double if the dealer has 5 or 6 . If you have A4 or A5, double if the dealer has 4 – 6. If you have A6, double if the dealer has 3 – 6. With A7, stand if the dealer has a 2, a 7 or an 8. If the dealer does not have the cards indicated, you should simply hit. With soft hands, you should always stand if you have A8 or A9.

Blackjack Variations
Should you feel the need to something a little bit more exciting, there are quite a few blackjack variations available at online casinos. Blackjack Switch is a popular variation, which provides the player with two hands at once. Other variations depend on the number of decks in use, for example Atlantic City (8 decks) and European (2 decks).
